Organize Your Fabric

I love looking at my fabric!

But it didn't used to be that way...

Does any one else's fabric collection look like this?

When I would look for one piece of fabric, I usually had to dig through a few boxes and make a mess in the process. And these boxes had been "neat" before, but let's just say getting the fabric to the box instead of the craft table is an accomplishment. :)

For my sanity, I needed better organization and found this wonderful idea using foam posterboards. Not only is the organization neat, but it doubles as beautiful decoration. Designer fabric needs to be displayed instead of hiding in a box!

Now I can view all of my fabric easily and take out

the one that I need without disturbing the organization.

I LOVE it!

Fabric Heart Decor

I love the line Chemistry by Bunny Hill Designs for Moda and had to frame it somehow.

The hearts were obviously my #1 choice, but you can do words such as LOVE, XOXO, KISS, and so much more!

I also cut out hearts and sprinkled them across my piano top.

It definitely brings in the Valentine's spirit. :)

Arise and Shine Forth Printable

The 2012 Mutual Theme for the youth of the LDS church is

Arise and Shine Forth.

“Arise and shine forth, that thy light may be a standard for the nations” (D&C 115:5).

I made up a printable for our Young Women and gave them out for our New Beginnings. I wanted to share it with you in case you were interested.

I've never done printables before, so if someone wants one, just let me know in a comment and I can email you, or tell me how to get it on here to be a printable. I assume you can just save it, but who knows really! :)

I also have different sizes and some without the white border. Let me know if you are interested and I will get them on here too. I'd love to help if I can.

How To Make A Bow Board

There are a few different ways to make a bow board.

This is one of the easiest ways, and I love how the frame turns your bows into art!

As you might know, I don’t have any girls.
So sad considering making bows is a stress reliever. :)

Well, this bow board was made for those videos.

Maybe someday they will hold the bows of a little girl.
For now, they will hold bows for decoration. :)

Minky Tag Ball

I made most of the baby's presents for Christmas

and this was one of them!

The Ribbon Retreat has lots of fun ribbon and when I saw this Football Ribbon, I knew I needed to do something with it.

My baby boy loves it and loved playing with all the tags.

And the minky fabric is so soft, he can snuggle it too!

Fabric Backdrop

I took these fun pics of my kiddos using beautiful designer fabric from The Ribbon Retreat as a fun backdrop.

I love to take pictures of my kids! I am not a professional photographer by any means, but I like to dress up the normal picture every once in awhile and fabric is a great way to do that. I also find taking pictures of my kids to be a great way to spend quality time with them.

I have a tutorial on how to use a fabric backdrop and also how to take and edit the pictures with a point and shoot camera. Anyone can have professional looking pictures!

Hooded Towel Tutorial

Hooded Towels are something that every child should have.

I grew up not having one and I was very jealous of those that did.

With how easy these are to make, there are no excuses. :)

This tutorial takes one large towel and one hand towel and embellishments such as ribbon, fabric, or trims, and all of these you can get from The Ribbon Retreat. You can make it as girly as can be or a simple as you'd like. The possibilities are endless.

Thanksgiving Turkey Shirt

I made this super cute Thanksgiving Turkey Shirt last year for my little guy.

It was an easy project that you can easily do with scraps.

although, having awesome Fall designer fabric takes it a step up. :)

Thanksgiving Turkey Bow

This is Turkey Tom.

He is the most adorable turkey I have ever seen.

How To Make Animal Ears

Here’s the story:

I found a costume for my 5 month old in a box that someone had given me. It was a dog costume and I thought it would be so cute to be a cat to match Brady. Well, when I was telling my husband about it, he cracked up laughing telling me it wasn’t a dog costume, it was a BEAR costume. Well, what in the heck would I wear to match a bear costume!?

I thought fish, berries, mountain lion, etc., every thing I thought was dumb. Then my mom gave me the idea of being a Mama Bear! Perfect! That solved that. But I still needed bear ears. You can find cat ears everywhere! Of course, when you can’t find it, you MAKE it!!

Here is my big little "cub" wearing them. Pictures right before nap time when it's cloudy and I need him to stay still so I can get a non-blurry picture don't usually turn out so good. Chic Pumpkins

Pumpkins are anything but chic.

This pumpkin right here was big, dirty, and bright bright ORANGE!

With just a little bit of paint, some Vintage Ribbon, and French Veil Netting, this pumpkin is as chic as you can get!

You've seen a lot of the glitter spray paint around Blog Land. Well I initially was going to use it, but I couldn't find it. The few places that had it were sold out of all the Halloween colors. I had some left over metallic spray paint and used that instead. I am SOOO glad I did! It turned out absolutely perfect!

Fabric Pumpkins

There are so many different tutorials going around in Blog Land on how to do fabric pumpkins. I tried a few and found what I thought looked cutest and was easiest.

I still need to try one more way of tying around the pumpkins, but I didn't have time. Although, I do talk about it in the tutorial.

The thing I love most about fabric pumpkins is how versatile they are. You can make them specifically for fall or Halloween. You can glam them up or keep them simple. You can have them be the big centerpiece or accents in your fall decoration. So many uses!

Another thing I love is it doesn't take a TON of fabric. So that makes this project pretty cheap! And who doesn't love a project on a budget? :)

Shirred Skirt

I love shirring!!!

And who knew it was the easiest thing ever!?

It can take a little work to figure out how your machine likes to shir.
I had to go through a bunch of tips before I found what worked for me.

This skirt is way easy and makes for great practice on shirring.
And I love the fabric! So so cute!

Inside Out Halloween Bow

I have two boys, yet I love making bows. Because of this, I know I will probably never have a girl! LOL

I make one or two bows a month for The Ribbon Retreat Blog. Sometimes I make them for my friends for gifts. My friend just had a baby girl and I made her a bunch of little ones. So sweet.

This was my bow for our Halloween Link Party.

I usually do boutique style, twisted boutique, and regular two loop bows, but I decided to try out the Inside Out technique. This technique is usually found on the bottom of big stacked bows. I threw in some korkers and you have a fun, funky bow for Halloween! :)

Tulle Halloween Wreath

I LOVE Halloween!

Some people like to combine October and November with a sweet, neutral, Fall wreath.

But, not me!!

Decorating for Halloween is so much fun and my wreath is going to show it!

This tulle wreath is so easy to make and so cute! I really think I have the most unique wreath in the neighborhood. When I tell people in my neighborhood where I live, I just say "You know the black tulle wreath?" They always know what I am talking about and then continue to say how awesome it is. :)

This is a no-sew, no-gluing, just scissors and your hands technique.
It's so easy!
